The Journey Of Making Our Nadia Cape
Design
Designed in conjunction with Nadia and the team at Hancock. The original cape design is a traditional block which Hancock has produced for decades. We introduced contrast features and reversible epaulettes to create these incredible limited edition capes.
Sustainable Circular Sourcing
The creative process began with the utilisation of deadstock fabrics. Our team led by Antoinette, modified the design and curated the appropriate features, buttons, and trimmings for this limited edition cape - of which only four Light Blue variants exist. Our circular sourcing strategy ensures true limited editions and exclusivity.
Ethical Manufacturing
Our Nadia Cape is proudly Made in Scotland. The capes are specially made from vulcanised rubber bonded cloth and are all cut by hand, a process patterned by Thomas Hancock in 1843. They give great accuracy in pattern and garment cutting. The seams are all taped and sealed by natural, virgin rubber using the index finger which requires an incredibly skilled artisan. Traditional tools are used to finish the garment to ensure all the tapes are firmly bonded. The quality of these garments is incredible, each cape is individually hand made from start to finish by one artisan. These capes are extremely exclusive, and all come with a lifetime guarantee. The artisans who hand crafted the Nadia Cape were paid £20/hour.
