The Journey of our Gunay Shirt
Design
Antoinette sources luxury ‘discarded’ fabrics here in the UK with our seamstress Leila that will be crafted into limited edition pieces, designed to flatter the female form. The Gunay’s cut and designed to flatter the contemporary woman, while maintaining an effortless timelessness. Every item is a unique and special work of art.
Gunay shirt is named after Gunay Karaosman, the mother of Assistant Professor Dr Hakan Karaosman, a leading academic and thought leader on sustainable and ethical fashion. Hakan was inspired to become a leader in the subject area after witnessing his own mother Gunay, a very talented seamstress, being poorly treated by the luxury fashion industry. This story has always inspired Antoinette so she wanted to celebrate an incredibly strong woman and her amazing son. We are proud to honour Gunay by naming this stunning shirt after her.
Günay has also a special meaning, means day and At means month, so in a way the name encapsulates infinity.

Our activities, ranging from our shop, office and our supply chain, are always focused on people and the planet. Ethical Manufacturing
Each shirt is hand made by Leila, an incredibly skilled artisan based in Glasgow. Our Scottish artisans are paid more than a living wage and all of our supply chains are maintained in accordance with standards of fairness for sustainability.
