The Journey of Elsie Wool Coat
Design
The Elisie coat was designed to create a truly functional but elegant wool coat. Most wool coats are too cold for winter. This wool coat is fully lined and padded. It has ribbed inner cuffs and a detachable hood. Antoinette designed strategically placed checks. and tailored waist balances the silhouette. This coat is named after the Scottish Elisie Inglis was a pioneering doctor and suffragist. Despite being in some of the worst conditions imaginable Elisie was able to always find a positive - ‘Never shall we forget the beauty of the sunrises, and the glory of the sunsets, with cool clear sunlit days between, and wonderful starlit nights.’ Despite our frustration at the fashion industry today we are always looking to make beauty out of challenges.
Sustainable Circular Sourcing
The process for creating the Elisie coat began in Italy with Flavio and Antoinette exploring incredible fabrics in the deadstock warehouse. Antoinette instantly fell in love with the both the red and the grey wool and wanted to create something to showcase these incredible fabrics. The checks we selected to elevate the designs. The zips, buttons and trims also came from deadstock too. Even the back label was cut from fabric pulled out of the bin. Depending on the quantity left of the fabric, that will dictate the quantity and colour ways of the coat. This unique process means each coat is incredibly special and a true limited edition.
