The journey of our Nadia Cape

Design

Designed in conjunction with Nadia and the team at Hancock. The original cape design is a traditional block which Hancock has produced for decades. We introduced contrast features and reversible epaulettes to create these incredible limited edition capes.

Sustainable Circular Sourcing

Our cycle of procurement begins with the selection of this stunning material from deadstock stocks at the factory. We handpicked the ideal details, fastenings, and decorations for this Navy & Silk print cape - only 17 in this colour way were ever manufactured. This cycle of procurement guarantees uniqueness and true limited edition.

Ethical Manufacturing

Our Nadia capes boast a proud Scottish heritage. Using a vulcanised rubber-bonded cloth and made using Thomas Hancock's traditional hand-cutting method. The capes are exquisitely cut and hand sealed. Natural, virgin rubber seals each seam with an expertly skilled artisan's index finger. Traditional tools ensure each and every tape's firm bonding, bringing incredible quality to each handmade cape. Exclusivity and craftsmanship come together to create a truly unique garment. The artisans who make this product are paid more than a living wage.

How we put people and planet first in the making of our Nadia Cape

    Sustainably sourced from luxury fabrics, trims and buttons from the Alexander Manufacturing Ltd. The Nadia Cape was manufactured only 29 miles from our store. The circular and near sourcing model has provided a 75% reduction in CO2.

  • Ethical

    Ethically manufactured in Scotland. We are delighted to replicate our circular manufacturing model in Scotland whilst supporting local businesses and the local economy. The artisans who hand crafted the Nadia Cape are paid £20 an hour. More than a living wage.

  • Quality

    The quality of these garments is incredible; each cape is individually hand made from start to finish by one artisan. It takes 8 hours to make one cape. Our capes come with a lifetime guarantee.

    The Nadia Capes are designed and crafted to stand the test of time. These capes will look incredible in decades to come. Our ideal is that you hand down to your loved ones in the future. They are true limited edition because of our sourcing strategy. There are only 17/17 of Nadia in Navy/Silk.

    At every point in the design to creation of this Nadia Cape we aim to reduce our carbon footprint. Through embracing a circular sourcing strategy and on-shoring we are able to reduce the carbon footprint by 75%.

    At Beira we cut out the middleman. We do not wholesale our products and instead sell directly to our customer. Traditional retail mark-up price £1860 our honest price is £750 based on direct to customer pricing.

At Beira we only ever use 'deadstock' and 'rescued' fabrics and trims. We do not add to the carbon pollution at a raw materials or textile processing stage. This provides a 75% of the carbon footprint of the Nadia Cape.
