Our Crowdfunder in Conjunction with

Women's Enterprise Scotland

Empowering Fashion, Empowering the Planet, Empowering People.

We are Beira, a Scottish luxury fashion brand that takes discarded fabric from the luxury fashion industry and ethically crafts limited-edition womenswear, embracing the circular economy.

In a world of throwaway fast fashion, overflowing landfills, and frighteningly progressive climate change, Beira’s purpose since the beginning has been to disrupt the status quo of the fashion industry.

Our Story

Our story began with both Flavio Forlani and myself, Dr. Antoinette Fionda-Douglas, trying to solve three problems: how to produce beautiful, timeless clothing that is ethically and sustainably sourced and that doesn’t cost the earth.

Working with Flavio, the owner of the Italian luxury manufacturer La Rocca, brought our shared passion to life. Flavio, with over 40 years of experience in the luxury industry, was deeply concerned about fabric waste’s impact on the planet. As a UN-accredited expert on sustainability and an advocate for the circular economy, I saw an opportunity to put our ideals into action. The idea of using discarded materials and crafting them into exclusive limited-edition garments resonated deeply with us, and it was from this inspiration that Flavio and I came together to establish Beira.

Our Purpose

At Beira, we embrace the circular economy, ensuring that all our raw materials are sourced in a way that minimises waste and maximises the potential for beautiful, limited-edition creations. We have adopted a radical approach to pricing transparency that allows our customers to see what makes up the cost of each crafted piece of the collection. It also shows that every artisan who crafts Beira is paid more than a living wage, which is very important to us. We believe in putting people and the planet first while using the finest fabrics and beautifully tailored designs rooted in luxury craftsmanship.

We are dedicated to:

– Being transparent about production

– Using no new materials—only those saved from going to landfill

– Supporting manufacturers and paying artisans more than a living wage

– On average an 85% reduction in our carbon impact compared to traditional manufacturing

– Directly selling to consumers to minimise cost for the customer and environmental impact

Supporting Made in Scotland

I design timeless, investment, limited-edition womenswear that is made to last and be loved for a lifetime. We are proud to have tested replicating our tried and tested Italian circular economy model in Scotland earlier this year.

Our crowdfunding project seeks to raise £25,000 to invest in our Made in Scotland collection. When you buy one of our rewards, you will directly support local businesses, jobs, and artisans within the Scottish manufacturing industry. Through this funding you will help assist one of our local Lanarkshire manufacturers in creating a new apprenticeship role and help us introduce limited-edition accessories, knitwear, trousers, and jackets to our Made in Scotland collection.

Join Our Fashion Revolution

We are not just another fashion brand; it is a statement, a movement, and a call for change. ‘Honest luxury’ is our priority. We see the crucial importance of sustainability, and ethically made clothing is a core principle behind all of our operations. So, invest in us – don’t just digest fashion. Imagine a world where we all make a difference through our clothing choices. When you support Beira, you’re not just adding a stylish piece to your wardrobe; you’re adding your voice to the call for a more sustainable and equitable fashion industry.
